About The Authors

Eileen Gold Kushner is the owner/operator of three McDonald’s restaurants. McDonald’s Corporation gave her the Ray Kroc Award in recognition of her hard work, dedication, and commitment to McDonald’s and its customers. The Omni Youth Services Society recognized Eileen as an extraordinary role model. The Illinois Chamber of Commerce, governor of Illinois, school districts, and local towns have given her awards for her community involvement. She and her husband, Larry, have three daughters and seven grandchildren.

Kathy Young taught students with learning disabilities in third through sixth grade and in high school. She has taught graduate level classes in reading methods and made presentations at many state and national special education conferences. Her first book KidTips-Study Strategies for Students With Learning Differences was published in 2003. Mrs. Young works for an educational publishing company and designs curriculum for struggling readers. She is married to John and has three stepchildren and three grandchildren.
